Aerospace Technician III

Merritt Island, Florida

Varstaff is searching for Level III Aerospace Technicians for the C shift in Merritt Island.  

This is an immediate need!

C shift: Thursday thru Sunday - 5am to 5pm

Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture, assemble, and test New Glenn (GS1) First Stage Booster according to written procedures.

  • Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment.

  • Assist with transition from development to production, including first articles.

  • Perform second party verifications and hardware inspections to engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance.

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control.

  • Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, flight vehicle and subassembly transportation equipment, truck-trailer combinations and other ground support equipment as required.

  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including, but not limited to, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, height gauges and optical measuring instruments.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.

  • Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD

  • Ability to work off-shift, extended overtime, and weekends if/when vital.

  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision.

 Qualifications:

  • 5+years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field

  • Experience in at least one of the following is required: fluids and tubing install, instrumentation and electrical harness routing, general Aerospace/Launch vehicle assembly.

  • Interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions and test procedures.

  • Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds

  • Communicate clearly and appropriately, in writing and in person.

  • Basic digital literacy such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.

  • Climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.

  • Work at Heights on work stands and in lifts.

  • Perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 35lbs.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

 Desired:

  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field

  • Proven success as a “hands-on” technical leader

  • Work optimally with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities

  • Continuous improvement attitude. Our job is never complete; we are always refining and improving.

  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it

  • Experience in handling large aerospace components

  • Experience in assembling large tight tolerance structures.

  • Experience in new product introduction

  • Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment

  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification

  • Ability to lift heavy items up to 50lbs.

  • Military experience
