varstaff is looking for a Janitor / Custodian

About the Role:

In this role, you will keep our buildings in clean, safe, and orderly condition by performing heavy cleaning duties, operating cleaning equipment, and managing maintenance supplies.

Key Responsibilities

• Heavy Cleaning: Clean floors, shampoo rugs, wash walls and glass, vacuum, and remove rubbish.

• Chemical & Equipment Safety: Follow strict procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment safely.

• Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and perform minor repairs on motorized cleaning equipment.

• Supply Management: Manage and organize supplies and equipment needed for daily cleaning and maintenance.

• Facility Reporting: Notify management when major repairs or additions to building operating systems are needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent with 1–3+ years of relevant experience (related experience can be considered in lieu of education).

• Efficiency: Ability to complete scheduled, routine tasks quickly and efficiently without close supervision.

• Physical Demands: Capable of climbing stairs, ladders, and working safely on stationary ladders.

• Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with the safe use of hand tools and chemical cleaning products.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Previous professional experience as a janitor.

• Experience working with hand and power tools.
