Structural Technician III

Varstaff is looking for Structural Technician IIIs (2 openings) in Colorado Springs, CO

About the Job: Build major aerospace assembly structures and perform minor part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reaming. You will align parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles using templates and fixtures, measure parts with micrometers and calipers, incorporate changes into complete and incomplete assemblies and verify quality to process-control procedures. 12-month contract, 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble major aerospace structures and perform part-fitting operations.
  • Align parts on jigs and vehicles using templates and fixtures; verify dimensions with micrometers and calipers.
  • Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate design changes.
  • Monitor and verify quality per statistical process and control procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and typically 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, blueprints and manuals; complete installations per drawings while maintaining edge distance and pitch.
  • Progressive experience with structure assembly, minor part fitting and repair/refinishing such as airframe corrosion removal.
  • Ability to install fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks.
  • Must own tools in good working order.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs; frequent exposure to outdoor elements and loud noise. Pre-start hearing, vision (Ishihara), physical and PFT testing.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance (not required immediately).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to travel.
  • Aerospace and defense, DoD, NASA or US military background.
